The one-year WeightClinicMD treatment is an out-of-pocket expense and will not be billed to your insurance company. However, your prescriptions will be billed to your insurance company by your pharmacy. Over 90% of patients pay between $25 – $50/month for their prescription (after their RX deductible is met). If your insurance does not cover the cost of the medication, you may elect to pay for the medication out-of-pocket.

Dr. BenPerlas will create a personalized treatment plan just for you, including non-addictive FDA-approved GLP-1 medications and supplements to help you reach your weight goals. With his help, you can get back to feeling like your best self!

GLP-1 is a hormone produced by the small intestine that helps regulate insulin, appetite, and digestion. The GLP-1 medication used at WeightClinicMD helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and encourages your body to burn fat.

GLP-1 medications at WeightClinicMD are typically given through a self-injection pen. This means you will receive a pre-filled pen and pen needle. The injection process is usually painless and barely noticeable. If you prefer, alternative options may be available, so talk to your WeightClinicMD team member for more information.

A bumpy spot on the injection area indicates that the medication was injected just below the skin instead of into the fat tissue. To prevent this, it’s best to grab a pinch of fat, insert the needle all the way, and hold it in place for a few seconds before removing it, so the medication is fully absorbed. Rotating the injection site can help avoid bumps, scarring, or irritation.

At the moment, WeightClinicMD is serving patients in California and Texas. However, we have plans to expand our services to other states soon.

WeightClinicMD’s aim is to establish habits for sustained wellness. Exercise is not mandatory, but highly recommended. Even taking a brisk walk for 20 minutes daily can make a big difference. Physical movement is crucial for good health and our patients have reported that exercising gets easier as they progress with weight loss.

If your weight loss progress stalls, the WeightClinicMD team will evaluate your situation and make any necessary adjustments. This is a normal part of the weight loss process and your team will work with you to overcome it.

Once you reach your desired weight, it is recommended to continue the medication for an additional 6 months to support weight maintenance.

If your insurance does not cover the medication, the cost for the medication is between $800-$1,600/month. If you do not want to pay out of pocket, you will receive a 100% treatment refund from WeightClinicMD.

WeightClinicMD takes privacy seriously and operates in accordance with the law. The company is HIPAA-compliant and has strict security protocols in place to protect your medical information.

On average, Dr. BenPerlas’s patients can expect to lose an average of 15% of their body weight in one year. This equates to an average loss of 20-24 pounds in the first 4 months and approximately 40 pounds in a full year. With a well-balanced diet and exercise, some patients have reported losing even more weight, between 60 to 100 pounds. The results may vary from person to person.

Yes, you can use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for your WeightClinicMD medication and treatment

Obesity is a medical condition in which an excessive amount of body fat accumulates to the extent that it can have a negative impact on a person’s health. It is typically defined by using a measurement called body mass index (BMI) which considers a person’s height and weight. A BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese, while a BMI of 25-29.9 is considered overweight. Obesity can increase the risk of various health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

Insulin resistance is when your body has trouble responding to insulin, which is a hormone that helps regulate the amount of sugar (glucose) in your blood. Over time, this can lead to high glucose levels and conditions like type 2 diabetes and obesity. High insulin levels can also make it hard for your body to burn fat and instead store calories as fat. Don’t worry at WeightClinicMD, Dr. BenPerlas is here to help reduce insulin levels and improve your overall hormone balance.

GLP-1 medication is a type of drug that was created to treat type 2 diabetes but has also been found to help with weight loss. These drugs work by regulating insulin levels, making you feel full for longer and improving your body’s ability to absorb nutrients. They’ve been approved by the FDA for weight management and are considered safe to use.

It’s possible to experience side effects when taking GLP-1 medications, including things like nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, dizziness, constipation, bloating, belching, gas, headaches, and fatigue. Don’t worry though, these side effects usually go away after a few weeks as your body gets used to the medication. WeightClinicMD is here to support you and provides a care package of both over the counter and prescription medications to help manage any side effects, along with instructions on how to take the medication to minimize them.

After Dr. BenPerlas has sent your prescription to the pharmacy and your insurance company approves it, the time it takes to receive your medicine may vary depending on the pharmacy. Approval from your insurance company could take 1-2 weeks. If insurance doesn’t cover it, WeightClinicMD will help you with the appeal process, which may take an additional 2 weeks. But if you prefer to pay for it yourself, you may receive it faster.

If you feel nauseous or start to vomit, it is suggested to keep taking the same amount of medication or decrease it until the symptoms go away. WeightClinicMD provides a care package with medicine to ease nausea.

Can the medication be used during pregnancy, while trying to conceive, or while breastfeeding?

No, weight loss medications should not

The treatments provided by WeightClinicMD utilize only FDA-approved medications and are overseen by experienced physician Dr. BenPerlas, who has been treating patients for weight loss since 2017.

On WeightClinicMD program, it’s not required to stick to a strict diet, but consuming a balanced and nutritious diet containing whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fiber can lead to greater weight loss success and establishment of healthier habits for long-term weight maintenance.

WeightClinicMD’s 1-year program aims to assist in weight loss and maintain a weight-loss state. The duration may be extended based on the desired weight loss. A maintenance plan will be created once the goal weight is achieved, but it ultimately depends on your actions. WeightClinicMD will provide support and resources to establish healthy eating and physical activity habits for long-term well-being. Many patients tend to maintain a healthier lifestyle after losing weight as they feel better and want to continue their new habits.

The WeightClinicMD program requires a one-year commitment. This is necessary because weight loss is a gradual process that requires time to achieve its full potential with the help of the medication. You will see results over time, and as you do, you will become more motivated to continue with the program. Some patients continue beyond a year if they want to lose more weight, while others reach their goal within the first 6 months and move onto a maintenance plan for the rest of the year.
